Tempura Batter Mix! This batter is simply fantastic! It is distinguished from many other battered and deep fried foods by being much lighter and tending to carry less grease. Use it on fish, or fresh vegetables such as onion rings, mushrooms, eggplant, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, squash and green beans.
In a bowl, mix the tempura mix and water with a spoon until a smooth batter is formed.
Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan. Dip each tilapia cube into the tempura batter to coat completely, and then dip into the mixed sesame seeds. Fry tilapia cubes over a medium-high flame for approximately 3 minutes on each side, or until completely cooked through.
Dip the vegetables into the tempura batter, and fry in oil on medium-high flame for 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
Alternately thread tilapia and vegetables onto the skewers.
Mix all dipping sauce ingredients together in a bowl, and serve alongside skewers, or drizzle on top.
Tilapia has a wide variety of associated health benefits, including its ability to help reduce weight and boost overall metabolism.
